Job Summary

The Plant Safety Technician supports the implementation of safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering a safety culture by conducting inspections and investigation of incidents.

Essential Job Functions
The essential duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits in operational areas to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Investigate accidents, near-misses, and unsafe acts, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
  • Monitor the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and provide guidance on the correct application.
  • Update and maintain accurate records of medical appointments, follow-ups, and OSHA-reportable incidents.
  • Coordinate and present safety training programs to team members on topics such as Safety Orientation, PPE use, emergency response, and ergonomics.
  • Participate as an active member of the safety committee, providing feedback and recommending improvements.
  • Assist in the preparation and documentation required for safety audits and inspections.
  • Follow all biosecurity and Animal Welfare Policies
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal codes and regulations.
  • Report any animal welfare related issues to management immediately.
  • Report any potential Food Safety issues to management immediately.
  • Report any damages to company vehicles, equipment, and buildings via maintenance work order software program.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.

Minimum Required Qualifications
The minimum required qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Minimum 1 year of equivalent experience in a manufacturing setting required; food processing preferred.
  • BS/BA degree in a related field preferred; required in equivalent experience is not met.
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification required.
  • Vald driver?s license to be able to commute between facilities.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations, workplace safety stands, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and injury reporting requirements.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to independently make decisions with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to multitask and effectively prioritize workload.
  • Advanced personal computer skills: Working knowledge of Excel and Outlook.3
  • Strong teamwork skills with a willingness to assist others.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures.

Physical Demands
The physical requirements/environmental factors for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry safety equipment up to 25lbs. occasionally.
  • Potential exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and ammonia.

Schedule:
6am-3:30pm winter hours and 8-5pm for Summer hours (Monday - Friday)
